Heres her verdict on the latest Cloudultra from On:
I first tried the On Cloudultra on the Run & Ride demo evening across Cannock Chase earlier in the year. I was immediately struck by how ultra cushioned & bouncy they felt.
The grip pattern isn't overly aggressive but they handled all the terrain I could through at them. Ascents, decent's, flats & loose stones were covered with confidence really well. There were no signs of slippage & an added bonus of the newly redesigned closed-channel construction outsole meant no stones getting stuck in the soles. The sock fitting around the ankle preformed flawlessly - it was great not find uncomfortable little stones rattling around the shoes.
I'd chosen my regular shoe size when selecting a demo pair, however, a few miles in I could feel that my toes were hitting the front of the shoes. By the end of run my feet were a little uncomfortable so decided to go up another half size. Problem solved! The next run felt loads better. That's definitely something to bare in mind when purchasing.
My next outing in the Cloudultra's was on the road & canal paths. The weather was a mixed bag on that day, recent rainfall had left the ground underfoot a little wet. It was no problem for these beauties though - I'm happy to report that they performed brilliantly once again, still as comfy & grippy as before.
In conclusion, these shoes are a fabulous, versatile solution that I'm sure you'll have no regrets owning. I loved them so much I purchased a pair as my summer trail shoes, however they are so comfortable that I'm now wearing them for work on a daily basis and receive lots of comments on stylish they look.
